Cosy games for actually winding down
Not every game session needs to be a test. Some evenings I just want to poke at something gentle, and that's a genre in its own right now. Tidefolk Harbor and The Hollow Atlas have both been in that rotation for me lately.
The mark of a good cosy game is that it never punishes you for leaving. No streaks to break, no lives to lose overnight. You come back when you want, and the game is glad to see you either way.
With The Hollow Atlas I made the mistake of rushing at first, treating it like a checklist. It only clicked when I slowed down and let the map fill in naturally. These games reward wandering.
If your evenings feel a bit too full of stress games, keep one cosy title installed. It's a nice off-ramp before bed, and it turns out that's a perfectly good reason to play.
